Second girls‘ dormitory project in Mubuga, Rwanda
The construction and equipping of a school accommodation including sanitary facilities for 200 girls in the community of Mubuga, Karongi District, located about 20km south of Kibuye.
Many girls walk up to two hours to school in the morning and the same distance back in the evening. They are defenseless. The living conditions often lead to school dropouts and unwanted early pregnancies.
After completion of the construction, the girls will have better living conditions, a safe way to school and thus the best conditions for graduating from school.
Aims of the project
-
daily school visits under better conditions
-
prevent early school leaving
-
short, safe ways to school
-
regular catering
-
Supporting girls through education and creating prospects
-
Protection against early pregnancy, rape and (forced) prostitution
A school leaving certificate helps the girls to become independent and self-confident.
A good education creates perspectives for a self-determined and independent life.
Education is often the only way to escape an otherwise predetermined life in poverty.
